- A program used to speed up Google
In recent years, the internet has seen an explosion in the world of social media. Today, the first thing most people do when they wake up is check their various social media networking sites. In 2009, social media sites began working to give users real time updates. Google capitalized on this trend and began working on a way to make sure their index could provide its users with the most up-to-date search results—and Google Caffeine was born in 2010.
With the release of Google Caffeine, Google could index the internet more frequently and thus provide more reliable search results. In addition, the creation of Google Caffeine made it possible for the release of a real-time search on Google. This real-time search also included Twitter results until Google’s contract with Twitter expired in 2011.
From an SEO standpoint, Google Caffeine works to create a sense of urgency to make sure that new content is released on a steady basis. This is because the more frequently you can produce content, more exposure your company will get.
